Bolton Castle’s most famous resident was Mary Queen of Scots, who was held in custody there in 1568. The castle now provides a great day out for the whole family, where you can roam through its well preserved rooms, discover tales of its former residents and enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding countryside from its battlements, which are especially beautiful in the crisp autumn months.
