Our Favourite Things to do in Skipton
Skipton, North Yorkshire is a very popular tourist destination for many in the UK thanks to its stunning sights shopping areas and beautiful countryside. At Long Ashes Park we’re blessed with the fact that Skipton is just a 25 minute drive away, meaning that for many of our visitors and guests, Skipton is at the very top of their places to visit during their stay with us.
A Yorkshire market town on the River Aire, Skipton has the The Leeds Liverpool canal running straight through it, meaning colourful narrowboats are a common sight as they cruise by. This, plus the fact the gorgeous Dales are accessible right from Skipton's backdoor makes it one of the best connected towns in the area and is great for both flying visits and longer trips away.
Skipton Castle
Most notably and indeed one of the historical venues most famous in Skipton is the awesome Skipton Castle. Here visitors can tour the Grade 1 Listed Medieval Castle and visit the grounds and sites of many historical events. There’s a tea-room which offers some fantastic local food and drink, as well as a very well priced gift shop that means you don’t have to venture too far to find that perfect gift for your loved ones back home.
Skipton Castle really is a great day out and has something for everyone. So, whether you’re visiting Long Ashes Park as a family, or on a couple’s retreat, be sure to add Skipton Castle to the top of your list!
Skipton Market
Of course, no visit to a market town would be complete without a visit to the market itself. Skipton Market is a wonderful occasion that brings a whole host of exciting goods and creations to the streets of Skipton. Open Monday, Wednesday, Friday & Saturday, it's a year round experience with a great atmosphere, perfect for food and drink and you might even find a few treasures to buy for yourself too! If you love shopping, we can’t recommend this enough!
At Long Ashes Park we're so lucky to have Skipton on our doorstep and we promise you won’t be disappointed by venturing out to this historic market town!
