One of the world's most magnificent cathedrals, and the largest Gothic cathedral in northern Europe, York Minster is well worth a visit on the coronation bank holiday weekend.
This stunning cathedral has been a fully functioning and thriving church for well over 1000 years, so any history fan will love to take a tour of York Minster and discover its incredibly exquisite handcrafted details and an unrivalled collection of medieval stained glass.
Tickets cost £16 per adult or £14 per student. Under 18s go free with an accompanying adult.
Bolton Abbey
Explore impressive ruins on this beautiful estate in Wharfedale. Bolton Abbey takes its name from the ruins of the 12th century Augustinian monastery now known as Bolton Priory, which closed in the 1539 Dissolution of the Monasteries ordered by King Henry VIII.
Today, this stunning 33,000 acre estate is a fantastic place for a day out with all the family, featuring attractive walking routes, plenty of spots for a picnic, Grade I listed buildings and a variety of businesses from tearooms to bookshops.
Parking at Bolton Abbey costs £15 for the day, or £12.50 if you book in advance.
Castle Howard
Castle Howard is a stunning stately home in York, that you may recognise from a number of films and TV shows including Bridgerton, Victoria, and the music video for Arctic Monkeys' Four out of Five!
Commissioned by the 3rd Earle of Carlisle, this beautiful stately home was completed in 1811 and opened to the public in 1952.
There are a variety of different tickets you can book, from gardens admissions to a guided house tour and even boat trips, and you'll find a great choice of cafes and shops.
